SPEC Spotlight: Tom, Senior Mission Analyst

SPEC Spotlight: Tom, Senior Mission Analyst

Tom Walton, Senior Mission Analyst1627560944219

I have spent a total of 35 years in the US Army, filling staff and leadership positions of increasing responsibility, culminating with 3 years within the Operations Directorate of the Joint Staff at the Pentagon, leading the Homeland Defense Division. I was privileged to have the support of 3 SPEC Innovations contractors in my last uniformed assignment, so when I retired in April 2021, I jumped at the opportunity to join the team.

I joined SPEC almost a year ago as their Senior Mission Analyst. My position consists of synchronizing and integrating Strategic Risk Management across Combatant Commands, Services, and Defense Agencies in a collaborative effort to identify critical assets, assess vulnerabilities, provide risk management options, and monitor implementation.

The best part about my job is staying engaged in support of the Joint Warfighter as part of a world-class team of dedicated professionals, both within SPEC and across the Department of Defense. My favorite part about working for SPEC is the family-like environment where I am valued, challenged, and rewarded.

I am married to my wife who is from Osaka, Japan, and together we have three children and four grandchildren. In my spare time, I like to travel, work out, eat eclectic foods, and play a fun game of mediocre golf! When it comes to entertainment, my favorite channel, movie, and book are National Geographic, The Matrix Trilogy, and Shogun by James Clavell, respectively. On a Sunday, you might find me eating my favorite snack, a charcuterie board, while watching my favorite team, the Pittsburgh Steelers!
